Hello, I'm Brian and I am a graphic designer and artist. A few months ago I stumbled on to a little website called Polyvore. I am always looking for new veins to tap into creativity and help explore my imagination. When I started using Polyvore I began to realize that I had a huge interest in fashion, so I began styling fashion sets for women. I have always regarded womens fashion as modern art. I see art in everything. With women I see them as a canvas and their clothing is their paint. Anyway, corny metaphors aside, after seeing all these amazing sets on Polyvore I decided that I was going to give it a try myself.
My dabbling of course turned into a daily routine and admittedly an obsession. I have no idea how I got anything done at first, I was creating sets all the time. In the beginning I just put together clothing sets like everyone else, I never used a model, but one day I got stuck and ran out of ideas. I got the idea that I needed a muse, I needed to know the "canvas" I was working with. I went to a few major department store websites and began finding models in the lingerie section to build off of. Once I got the photo edited and online, everything began to flow. Before I knew it that one time thing turned into a week, and that week became 2 weeks, then a month, etc. After the first month was over, I began to start thinking, "What if I kept doing this, what if I did this for a year?"
I finally decided that for 1 year I would take a model for a week or 2 weeks at a time and create an outfit for each day of that week. At the time I am writing this, it has been 3 months, that's 90 days out of 365 days of this 1 year project. My goal is to finish by May 15, 2010. What I am hoping for myself to get out of this, I actually already have, is to continue to grow artistically and creatively and be inspired to apply what I am learning through this project into my other creative arenas. Also as a bonus, I have also began to really appreciate women who get up and create art everyday for an unappreciative world. There is a lot of effort and thoughtfulness that goes unnoticed, especially by us guys because lets face it, a mans wardrobe is more like a uniform and little thought goes into it. This project is also for you ladies, Thanks for making the world a lot better, it would be bland and boring and...musky with out you! Enjoy my blog!
